It certainly works to squeeze more screen into a narrower, more hand-friendly shape, but to some eyes it looks a bit, well, thin. The compactness of the Galaxy S8 is partly down to the screen ratio that the phone has: 18.5:9 instead of the traditional 16:9 of TVs and many smartphones.
